Friday, May 4, 2018 – Gatineau, Quebec – Library and Archives Canada (LAC) announced today that the Galactic Empire, plagued by a series of malicious data breaches, has unilaterally declared that LAC’s new Gatineau 2 Preservation Facility will be the permanent repository of all future Death Star plans.

Librarian and Archivist of Canada, Guy Berthiaume, publically lauded the sudden acquisition arrangement as “a great step forward for Canada’s ongoing preservation!”, however an unidentified staffer quoted Berthiaume as stating off-the-record “this deal is getting worse all the time!”

Quotes

“Storing our records in LAC’s state-of-the-art preservation facility assures me that there will be no need for further disintegrations.”

- Darth Vader, Sith Lord

“We consider this alliance a great step forward for Canada’s ongoing preservation.”

- Guy Berthiaume, Librarian and Archivist of Canada

Quick facts

  • The Gatineau 2 Preservation Facility is a solution to LAC's ongoing and future needs for special purpose infrastructure that provides appropriate preservation and access space for LAC's analogue archival holdings.

The facility will be built behind the existing Preservation Centre in Gatineau and, if the procurement process is carried out as planned, construction will start in 2019.
