Traditions and Techniques workshop: Book preservation
Join us for the launch of our new Traditions and Techniques virtual workshop series, which will showcase collections and practices from Library and Archives Canada (LAC) that can inspire you to create and apply these techniques at home. The first session will focus on the preservation of books and the creative process of zine-making.
About the workshop
This workshop is designed for anyone interested in learning about best practices used by experts at LAC and offers a unique opportunity to explore conservation techniques and creative publishing.
Participants will get a step-by-step overview of the book preservation process, introducing the essential tools, materials, and techniques used by professional conservators to protect and treat books.
The workshop will also feature practical advice from LAC’s Head Conservator, Book Conservation, who will share expert tips on how to care for books and documents at home.
In addition, the session will explore the creative process behind zine-making. Participants will learn what zines are, how they are made, and how to preserve these unique, handmade publications.
Attendees will have the opportunity to engage directly with our expert team through a live chat Q&A session, allowing for deeper insights into the topics discussed.
