Treaties Recognition with Armand Ruffo
Library and Archives Canada and the Ottawa Public Library invite you to an evening with acclaimed Anishinaabe writer and poet Armand Garnet Ruffo.
Author of Treaty # (Governor General’s Literary Award finalist) and The Dialogues: The Song of Francis Pegahmagabow, which received the VMI Betsy Warland Between Genres Award, Ruffo will share from his latest work, The Upper World. He will provide an overview of the treaty process between Indigenous Peoples and colonial Canada, examining how changing political and social landscapes—and differing understandings of land ownership and relationships—have shaped these agreements.
