Every day, Canadians across the country provide care and support for their family members, selflessly putting their needs aside for those of the ones they love. To ensure family caregivers have the proper support, the Government of Canada vowed to support family caregivers with Employment Insurance (EI) benefits that are more flexible, inclusive and easier to access. More than 40 percent of the over 10,000 claims established to date were made by caregivers in Ontario.

In 2019, as a result of the Government’s changes, middle class Canadians will see more money on their paycheques, compared with 2015, while changes to the Canada Pension Plan (CPP) means they will have more money for their retirement.

The Youth Employment Strategy (YES) is the Government of Canada’s interdepartmental initiative that seeks to help young people aged 15 to 30 years gain the skills, abilities and work experience they need to find and maintain quality employment. Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ) is delivered by Employment and Social Development Canada and falls under one of the Youth Employment Strategy program streams (Summer Work Experience).
