Lieutenant-General Erick Simoneau assumed Command of Military Personnel Command (MILPERSCOM) from Lieutenant-General Lise Bourgon on Monday, June 16, 2025, during a morning ceremony at National Defence Headquarters Carling Campus in Ottawa. General Jennie Carignan, Chief of the Defence Staff, presided over the ceremony.

Exercise CUTLASS FURY 2025 (Ex CF25) will take place from June 9 to 18, 2025 off the coast of Halifax, Nova Scotia. This strategic initiative will bring together a diverse array of military forces from across Canada and around the world to enhance collective defence capabilities, strengthen maritime security, and foster international cooperation.

The Honourable David J. McGuinty, Minister of National Defence, concluded a productive visit to Brussels, Belgium, where he participated in the 28th Ukraine Defense Contact Group (UDCG) meeting and a meeting of North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Defence Ministers.
On May 29 and 31, while deployed in support of Operation CARIBBE, His Majesty’s Canadian Ship (HMCS) William Hall and an embarked United States Coast Guard (USCG) Law Enforcement Detachment (LEDET) successfully conducted seizures of more than 1300 kilograms of cocaine in the Caribbean Sea.
