As part of the Spring Economic Update 2026, the Government of Canada is proposing $957.8 million over five years, starting in 2026-27, for the Small Craft Harbours Program. This historic investment will support the repair, modernization, and climate resilience of core harbour infrastructure and is in addition to DFO’s existing annual program budget of approximately $90 million.

Eric Wildhaber was appointed as a temporary Member of the Canadian International Trade Tribunal for a three-year term beginning on July 25, 2022. He was reappointed as a temporary Member for another three-year term, starting on July 25, 2025.
Michèle Govier recently served as Director General of the International Trade Policy Division at the Department of Finance Canada where she oversaw Canada’s import policy and trade legislation, including the Customs Tariff Act, the Special Import Measures Act, and the Canadian International Trade Tribunal Act. Her key responsibilities included providing strategic advice to senior government officials on trade policy measures, implementing such measures, and leading trade negotiations. This included providing advice on the implementation of Canada’s response to U.S. tariffs and developing tariff relief to businesses.
Greg Gallo is currently the Senior Director, Trade Remedies Analysis and Chief Economist for the Administrative Tribunals Support Service of Canada (ATSSC) supporting the Canadian International Trade Tribunal (CITT). Between 2019 and 2022 he held the position of Acting Executive Director at the ATSSC to the CITT, the Competition Tribunal and the Public Servants Disclosure Protection Tribunal. Mr. Gallo recently returned to the ATSSC from an assignment as the Acting Secretary General to the Copyright Board of Canada.
Small craft harbours are vital infrastructure for coastal and rural communities, supporting fishing and transportation, while supporting the local economies built around them. Canada's commercial fisheries, aquaculture, and seafood processing sectors support nearly 65,000 jobs — including more than 42,900 commercial fish harvesters — from coast to coast to coast. In 2025, Canada’s fish and seafood exports totaled $8.47 billion.
