Today, the Honourable Ya’ara Saks, Minister of Mental Health and Addictions and Associate Minister of Health, launched the first call for proposals under the Youth Mental Health Fund. Organizations can apply for funding to increase access to community-based mental health care for young people across Canada. These projects will enhance access to mental health supports and services for youth in their communities that meet their unique needs, including underserved populations and Indigenous youth.

Today, the Governments of Canada and Newfoundland and Labrador signed the National Strategy for Drugs for Rare Disease (DRD) agreement to invest a total amount of over $22 million over three years to improve access to new drugs for rare diseases for its residents and to support enhanced access to existing drugs, early diagnosis, and screening for rare diseases.

The Government of Canada and the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador signed an amendment to the Aging with Dignity Agreement, providing Newfoundland and Labrador access to more than $25 million in new funding to support Personal Support Workers (PSWs) and related professions. This funding is being provided over five years (2024-25 to 2028-29), extending the existing Aging with Dignity (AWD) Agreement by one year.
