Today the Honourable Filomena Tassi, Minister of Public Services and Procurement, announced that the government has signed a new conditional agreement with AstraZeneca for 100,000 doses of its antibody therapy, Evusheld, for the prevention (pre-exposure prophylaxis) of COVID-19. The antibody therapy is under review by Health Canada for use in specific high-risk patient populations, such as people who are immunocompromised. Health Canada is currently prioritizing the review of all COVID-19 vaccines and drugs.

Following an open and competitive process, Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC), on behalf of Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada, has awarded a contract to Parsons Inc. for construction management and care and maintenance services at the Faro Mine Complex. This contract will make a significant contribution to restoring and protecting the environment on and adjacent to the mine site, while bringing socio-economic benefits to northern and First Nations communities. These benefits include opportunities for employment, training and skills development, as well as for businesses to supply other goods and services to the project.

The Honourable Filomena Tassi, Minister of Public Services and Procurement, today announced a partnership agreement between the Translation Bureau and Glendon Campus at York University. Under this agreement, the Translation Bureau will provide educational support for Glendon’s Master of Conference Interpretation (MCI) program to help develop Canada’s conference interpreter workforce.

Today, the Honourable Dominic LeBlanc and the Honourable Ginette Petitpas Taylor, on behalf of the Honourable Filomena Tassi, Minister of Public Services and Procurement, announced a $23.6-million contract to Diamond Schmitt Architects to deliver design services and a $5.8-million contract to Pomerleau for initial construction management for the redevelopment of the Atlantic Science Enterprise Centre. The construction management contract is expected to be worth just over $300 million as additional work proceeds, which is expected to create and sustain a minimum of 200 jobs that will support the local and surrounding economy.
