Today marks the 6th annual Military Family Appreciation Day. On this day, we honour those who might not wear the uniform, but play a critical role in keeping Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) members and Veterans strong, ready and supported.

Australia, Canada, the Philippines, and the United States uphold the right to freedom of navigation and overflight, other lawful uses of the sea and international airspace, as well as respect for maritime rights under international law, as reflected in the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).
Today, I join Canadians across the country and around the world in celebrating Canada Day. As we celebrate Canada and all that it has to offer, we also recognize that the liberties and opportunities that we enjoy are because generations of Canadian Armed Forces members, past and present, have stood up to defend the values that we hold dear.
