July 13, 2018 – Ottawa, ON – There were 1,263 irregular border crossers who entered Canada to claim asylum in June 2018, which is the lowest number recorded since June 2017. This number signals a continued decrease from the 1,869 asylum seekers apprehended in May and more than a 50 percent decrease from the 2,560 irregular border crossers who were intercepted in April.

June 29, 2018 – Montreal, Que. – New Citizenship Judge Rania Sfeir will preside over her first citizenship ceremony on Canada Day, officiating at a special ceremony at Centre de la nature, in Laval, Quebec, where she will welcome 25 new Canadians.
As well, returning Citizenship Judge Marie Senécal-Tremblay will also preside over a citizenship ceremony at the Mount Royal Town Hall in Montreal, welcoming 40 new Canadians.

Across Canada 1,950 new Canadians will be welcomed on July 1
June 29, 2018 – Edmonton, AB – New Citizenship Judge Major Claude Villeneuve will preside over his first citizenship ceremonies on July 1, officiating first at a ceremony in Fort Edmonton Park, where he will welcome 50 new citizens, and then at Heritage Park Pavilion, in Stony Plain, welcoming another 50 new Canadians.
