Canada and the Métis Nation of Ontario sign Agreement on Advancing Reconciliation with Métis Community in Northwestern Ontario

The Government of Canada and the Métis Nation of Ontario today signed an Agreement on Advancing Reconciliation with the Northwestern Ontario Métis Community. The goal of the Agreement is to begin to work together toward a shared solution that addresses the unique history and outstanding claims of this Métis community.


Anishinabek Nation Education Agreement

On August 16, 2017, the Government of Canada and 23 Anishinabek Nation First Nations signed a historic self-government agreement on education. Achieved through over 20 years of negotiations, the Anishinabek Nation Education Agreement is an important step out from under the Indian Act toward greater self-determination for the Participating First Nations.
