The Honourable Gail Shea, Minister of Fisheries and Oceans, and Andrew Saxton, MP for North Vancouver and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Finance, today announced that the Government of Canada will provide funding of up to $15,000 to the BC Conservation Foundation for a project to restore the Lynn Creek estuary.
The Honourable Gail Shea, Minister of Fisheries and Oceans, today awarded Mr. Michael Griswold a 2013 Small Craft Harbours Prix d'Excellence. Mr. Griswold received the national award under the category of "National Individual Commitment" for his work as the volunteer Chair of the Quadra Island Harbour Authority (QIHA), which manages both the Heriot Bay and Quathiaski Cove small craft harbours.

The Honourable Gail Shea, Minister of Fisheries and Oceans, announced today the Government of Canada has provided more than $11 million to PEI lobster organizations under the Atlantic Lobster Sustainability Measures (ALSM) program since 2010. As a result, the number of traps being fished by active fishermen decreased by roughly 10,000 and 68 licences were retired across the province, representing an additional 18,500 traps.

These agreements mean that the federal government has fulfilled its commitments to ensuring that research at the Experimental Lakes Area can continue under a new operator.
