OTTAWA, April 25, 2005 -- Minister of Canadian Heritage and Minister responsible for Status of Women Liza Frulla was pleased to announce the names of those who will serve as presidents and vice-presidents of the Celebrate Canada Committees for 2005."Through their efforts and devotion, members of the Celebrate Canada Committees give us an opportunity to celebrate that we are all part of Canadian society, renowned the world over for its openness, its commitment to democracy and its quality of life," said Minister Frulla. "The year 2005 also marks the centennials of Alberta and Saskatchewan. The celebrations will enable us to salute the outstanding contributions these provinces have made to Canada's cultural vitality."In each province and territory, the Celebrate Canada Committee will organize and promote activities taking place from June 21 to July 1, 2005 as part of the "Celebrate Canada!" program. The festivities will begin on June 21 with National Aboriginal Day. They will continue with Saint-Jean-Baptiste Day on June 24, followed by Canadian Multiculturalism Day on June 27. The celebrations will conclude with Canada Day on July 1.The following persons will serve as presidents and vice-presidents of the Celebrate Canada Committees for 2005.
