SURREY, British Columbia— Nina Grewal, Member of Parliament for Fleetwood—Port Kells, on behalf of the Honourable Monte Solberg, Minister of Human Resources and Social Development, today announced $452,572 in Employment Assistance Services (EAS) funding for Career Quest 2007, which will help people in British Columbia find and maintain employment.
“Canada’s New Government is proud to support community organizations that help unemployed individuals find work,” said Mrs. Grewal. “Not only will this project help over 300 young people in the Surrey area who require employment and career assistance, but it will also benefit local employers and the local economy.”
Career Quest 2007, operated by Pacific Community Resources Society, will deliver employment resources and counselling services to young people, helping them to more fully participate in the labour market. The Career Quest 2007 office, located at 10328 East Whalley Ring Road in Surrey, will provide individuals with the skills and knowledge to make realistic career decisions and establish achievable career plans. Services will include career counselling, skills assessments, and the provision of information on job-training opportunities. This project is one of many services funded through Service Canada to help people find jobs.
