The Government of Canada has provided $9,100 through the Exhibition Circulation Fund of the Museums Assistance Program to help host the Alice Macredie: Works of Art exhibit, which is being circulated by the Canadian Railroad Historical Association.
Ray Boughen, Member of Parliament (Palliser), announced the funding today on behalf of Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages Shelly Glover.
The exhibit opened on January 27, 2014, and runs until April 6, 2014. Funding assists the organization with hosting the exhibit, which originates from the Exporail Canadian Railway Museum in Saint-Constant, Quebec. Activities include the intake and installation of the exhibit as well as its promotion in and around Moose Jaw.
“Celebrating the achievements of those who helped shape our country is extremely important, especially as we approach Canada’s 150th anniversary. This exhibit helps improve local understanding of a significant part of Canadian history and particularly the role of the railway in Western expansion.”
—Shelly Glover, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages
