Better service, access and safety for Charlottetown, Cornwall and Stratford’s public transit users

News Release

Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, April 18, 2017—Investing in public infrastructure supports efficient, affordable and sustainable transit services that help Canadians and their families get to work, school and essential services on time and back home safely at the end of a long day. The governments of Canada and Prince Edward Island are making investments that will help create well-paying jobs and grow the middle class now while building a strong foundation for a sustainable economic future.

Sean Casey, Member of Parliament for Charlottetown, on behalf of the Honourable Amarjeet Sohi, Minister of Infrastructure and Communities, and the Honourable Paula Biggar, Minister of Transportation, Infrastructure and Energy for Prince Edward Island, today announced $336,246 in joint funding for upgrades to the T3 Transit fleet and related infrastructure under the federal government’s Public Transit Infrastructure Fund.

The funding will allow T3 Transit to adapt ten recently purchased buses to include technology that enables users to plan and track their journeys in real-time. It will also go towards new bus shelters and improved routing and shelter signage.

This work will greatly improve the efficiency, safety and user experience for transit for riders in Charlottetown, Cornwall and Stratford, creating a more inclusive and sustainable transit system in Prince Edward Island for years to come.
