Better water and wastewater infrastructure for Springdale residents

News Release

Springdale, Newfoundland and Labrador, September 1, 2017—Investing in local infrastructure helps create jobs while improving Canadians' quality of life. The governments of Canada and Newfoundland and Labrador are working together to provide residents and businesses with modern, reliable and sustainable water and wastewater services that meet their needs, while also laying the foundation for new economic opportunities to strengthen the middle class across the province.

Today, the Honourable Dwight Ball, Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador; Scott Simms, Member of Parliament for Coast of Bays—Central—Notre Dame, on behalf of the Honourable Amarjeet Sohi, Minister of Infrastructure and Communities; the Honourable Eddie Joyce, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Environment; and Brian Warr, Member of the House Assembly for the District of Baie Verte-Green Bay, announced over $356,000 in federal and provincial funding to upgrade the infrastructure on Orange Lane and Churchill Place in Springdale.

Thanks to this investment, local residents will benefit from new water, sewer and storm water infrastructure, including new pipe lines on both Orange Lane and Churchill Place. Once the underground systems are complete, workers will repave these roads to ensure smoother and safer travel as people come and go from their homes.

In addition to this project, 76 other public infrastructure projects were announced today across Newfoundland and Labrador for a total federal-provincial investment of over $29 million.
