This letter serves to update your Office on the Department’s undertakings in regards to an injured former Public Service term employee who served in support of Canada’s mission in Afghanistan as a Language and Cultural Advisor (LCA).
In June 2019, you shared your findings following an investigation into a complaint from this former term employee, Mr. X. I am pleased to inform you that the Office of Disability Management within ADM(HR-Civ) has worked closely with Mr. X and his legal counsel to ensure his application to WSIB was received and approved. Mr. X is now in receipt of the financial and medical resources he requires for continued health and support.
We remain committed to this important issue and continue to help those LCAs who are impacted from their tours in Afghanistan.
To this effect, ADM(HR-Civ) has partnered with CFINTCOM, CFLA, ESDC and WSIB to contact all LCAs who toured between 2001 and 2014 to offer support and guidance, and ensure they receive the resources and care they are entitled to. Each stakeholder is engaged and committed to ensure timely progress of these files.
We continue to put our time and resources towards this important issue and your Office will be kept apprised of progress made.
