Chapter 6 - Overview of the 10 Steps to Apply for a Record Suspension

Now let's take a brief look at the ten steps in the application process.
Then, we will go over each of these steps in more detail.
Step 1 - Get your Criminal Record from the RCMP in Ottawa, and, if required, your proof of conviction documents.
Step 2 - Get your Court Information using the form at the back of the Application Guide.
Step 3 - If you are a current or former member of the Canadian Forces, get your Military Conduct Sheet.
Step 4 - Get your Local Police Records Check using the form at the back of the Application Guide.
Step 5 - If you were born outside of Canada, get your Proof of Citizenship or Immigration Documents.
Step 6 - Get a photocopy of your document to support your identification.
Step 7 - Fill in the Schedule 1 Exception Form, if applicable, making sure to answer all questions.
Step 8 - Fill in the Record Suspension Application Form, making sure to answer all questions.
Step 9 - Fill in the Measurable Benefit and Sustained Rehabilitation Form, making sure you complete all sections.
Step 10 - Go over the checklist to make sure you haven't forgotten anything, and mail your application, supporting documents, and the processing fee to the Parole Board of Canada.
