Review process

Applications are reviewed by a multi-disciplinary committee. Applications must be written in plain language.

The review committee will consider:

  • the quality of the application,
  • the applicants' interest and commitment to polar scholarship,
  • the project information-sharing activities,
  • the interdisciplinary approach to research,
  • the referee assessments, and
  • how the project will help Polar Knowledge Canada achieve its mandate.

Apply

Before applying, read the Program guidelines and instructions carefully.

There are two parts to the application:

  1. the application form, and
  2. two referee assessments.

Polar Knowledge Canada must receive both parts before the deadline.

To apply, you must create an account on the Polar Knowledge Canada Online Application and Reporting site. Once you have registered, you will receive a confirmation email. Use your account to submit your application and track the progress of your referee assessments.

You can apply for more than one scholarship or award through the Polar Knowledge Canada Online Application and Reporting portal. You will need a separate application for each scholarship or award.

Notifications will only be sent to successful candidates. Successful candidates must provide proof of registration in a full-time recognized university program

Referee assessments

On your application, you will be asked to enter the names and contact information of two (2) instructors or supervisors related to your research. These individuals will serve as referees.

These referees will need to complete the online referee assessment form as part of your application.

In the application form, you will enter your referees' contact email. The system will generate an invitation asking the referees to connect and complete a referee assessment. Once your referees are connected, they can read your application and will be asked to complete a section called the referee assessment.

Polar Knowledge Canada will update your account when the referee assessment forms are received.
