Minister Olszewski to highlight federal fuel excise tax relief to support affordability for Canadians

April 23, 2026 – Edmonton, Alberta – The Honourable Eleanor Olszewski, Minister of Emergency Management and Community Resilience and Minister responsible for Prairies Economic Development Canada (PrairiesCan), will highlight the Government of Canada’s temporary suspension of the federal fuel excise tax to help lower costs for Albertans.

Announced on April 16, 2026, the measure suspends the federal fuel excise tax on gasoline, diesel, and aviation fuel from April 20 to September 7, 2026, to help lower costs for Canadians.
