Hello and happy National Public Service Week!

I want to thank you all for your incredible and tireless work over the past 15 months, throughout this COVID pandemic.

Thank you! Thank you for stepping up, for innovating, for adapting, and for rising to the occasion at a time when our country needed you most.

Thank you for coming together—whether on the front lines or behind the scenes—to deliver critical programs and services to Canadians.

Your collective efforts are making a difference.

Together, we are turning the tide on the COVID-19 virus!

Now I know the last 15 months have been as hard as they have been rewarding.

I encourage you to take some time off this summer or over the coming months to recharge, even if it is difficult to travel.

Time off from screens can be very healing!

Keep your eyes on the horizon. There are better days ahead.

Take some time this week to reflect on the important role you play in the lives of Canadians—that is the essence of public service.

Think about how we can make our public service even stronger.

How you can be an ally against racism.

And how you can foster diversity and inclusion in your work and in your teams.

Virtual Pride Season begins again this week. I encourage you all to be part of it!

I look forward to the day when we can celebrate together again in person.

But until then, I wish you all a wonderful National Public Service Week and a fantastic summer!

Thanks!
