ARCHIVED - Formative Evaluation of the Canadian HIV Vaccine Initiative

The Canadian HIV Vaccine Initiative (CHVI) formative evaluation was conducted to measure the progress of the first two years of the initiative (2007/08 and 2008/09). The data collection phase for the evaluation was completed in August 2009. Since that time, the CHVI has undergone substantial changes.

In July 2010, at the XVIII International AIDS Conference in Vienna, Austria, the Government of Canada and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation announced their renewed commitment of up to $139 million to implement the CHVI and to establish a new CHVI Research and Development Alliance. In December 2010, the Government of Canada announced the co-chairs of the Advisory Board that will oversee the renewed CHVI and the Research and Development Alliance.
