Update on Ebola outbreaks
Currently, there are no Ebola virus disease (EVD) outbreaks.
Risk to Canadians
The overall risk to Canadians is considered very low. No cases of EVD have ever been reported in Canada.
A vaccine is available to manage outbreaks, and may be offered to:
- some humanitarian workers in EVD-affected areas
- other healthcare or frontline workers in affected areas or areas at high risk of spread
- people engaged in safe burials
However, this vaccine isn’t licensed in Canada, and isn’t available to the vast majority of Canadians. We urge you to practice special precautions if you’re travelling in an affected region.
We continue to reassess the public health risk based on the best available evidence.
