Immunization in Canada: Science - Programmes - Collaboration

Montreal is this year's site for Canada's most important conference on immunization - please join us!

Organized by: Health Canada's Immunization and Respiratory Infections Division and the Canadian Paediatric Society.

Goals: To provide delegates with cutting edge information on immunization science, policy, programmes and practice, and a forum for networking and knowledge sharing among the many disciplines working in immunization. Conference participants will share knowledge on new vaccine technologies; vaccines and the challenge of emerging infections; immunization for First Nations and other specific populations; information technology and immunization; best practices in immunization; influencing public policy and informed decision-making; the National Immunization Strategy; and Canada's role in global immunization.

Who should attend: Public health physicians and nurses; primary care physicians and nurses; specialty physicians and nurses; health professionals in education; health professionals in training; health promoters; researchers in vaccinology; pharmacists; policy makers; students; and industry.

Call for abstracts: The scientific component of the Conference is being enlarged, with assistance from the Canadian Association for Immunization Research and Evaluation (CAIRE). All submitted abstracts will be peer reviewed. The plan is to publish accepted abstracts in a supplement to a Canadian medical journal, and prizes will be awarded to the best submissions in a number of categories. The deadline for submissions is August 13, 2004. Abstracts must be submitted online at hc-sc.gc.ca/pphb-dgspsp/cnic-ccni/scientific_abstracts.

Continuing medical education credits: This event is supported by the Canadian Paediatric Society as an Accredited Group Learning Activity (Section 1) as defined by the Maintenance of Certification Program of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. The program meets the accreditation criteria of the Quebec College of Family Physicians and has been accredited for 16.25 Mainpro-M1 credits.
