The Public Service Commission (PSC) has recently put in place a number of changes to help improve the Priority Administration Program. This message is to inform you of the plans for implementation of the Priority Portal, a secure Web-based application and window for priority persons into the Priority Information Management System (PIMS).

The Priority Portal will allow priority persons to be more actively engaged in managing their entitlement by viewing and making changes to their personal information and to play a more active role in their search for employment. It will lead to greater efficiency in the registration of priority persons and more up-to-date information in PIMS, which will help to increase the accuracy of referrals for job opportunities and greater transparency.

Access to the Priority Portal will be implemented incrementally, starting on November 5, 2012 with new priority persons being newly registered in PIMS, to ensure that it is operating as intended and that the integrity of the system is safeguarded. All priority persons will have access to the Portal on November 19, 2012.

Between November 5, 2012 and November 19, 2012 there will be no change to the procedures for priority persons currently registered in PIMS. As their file is already active in PIMS, they will continue to be referred by the PSC for job opportunities, in accordance with the search criteria that is in their profile. Their profile information can be updated at any time by contacting their human resources advisor, as they do now.

Please note that in order to prepare for the implementation of the Priority Portal, PIMS will be unavailable starting at 8 p.m. EDT on Friday, November 2, 2012, to 7:00 a.m. EST on Monday, November 5, 2012. Please take this shutdown time into consideration if you were planning to submit priority clearance requests and/or priority registrations.

The PSC has provided information and training sessions to the Priority Administration and/or PIMS Super User contacts that you identified for your organization. They were asked to share the information provided during these sessions with you and your organization in preparation for the upcoming implementation of the Priority Portal.
