Deputy Head pledge to support students employed in the public service

As leaders of Public Service organizations, we recognize that our employees are what make us a high-performing, world-class public service. We will foster a work environment that attracts, retains and utilizes talent, and we will provide healthy and respectful workplaces that support diversity, innovation and learning.

We recognize that students provide an important contribution to the Public Service of Canada, and we support opportunities for students to develop the skills and experience they need to succeed and to be part of our efforts to renew and improve.

Together with our management teams, we pledge to support student onboarding by undertaking a timely hiring process and providing a letter of offer at least three weeks prior to their start date; welcoming students through orientation mechanisms that will ensure students understand their commitment under the Values and Ethics Code for the Public Sector; and providing meaningful work that allows them to learn and contribute to the objectives of the organization.

We will hold ourselves accountable for how well we meet these commitments.
