Want to help people in your community? Do you have a basic understanding of income tax? Volunteer with a community organization to help people by doing their taxes! During the 2021 tax season, you can volunteer at a virtual tax clinic and help people file their taxes by videoconference, by phone, or through a document drop-off arrangement.

With the Community Volunteer Income Tax Program (CVITP), you’ll be helping thousands of people get their entitled benefits and credits. As a CVITP volunteer, you’ll receive training, guidance, and tax software.

Become a participating organization

Make a difference in your community: register your organization to host free tax clinics. During the 2021 tax season, you can host a virtual tax clinic and have your volunteers help people complete and file their returns by videoconference, by phone, or through a document drop-off arrangement.

The CRA will provide volunteers with guidance, training, tax software, and promotional products. If you’re interested in registering your organization as a host, you can apply for a grant to help offset some of your costs.
