Summary of the Corporate Business Plan 2014-2015 to 2016-2017

A Message from the Minister

"Our ongoing challenge is to effectively and efficiently support government without over-burdening taxpayers."

—Kerry-Lynne D. Findlay

The Honourable Kerry-Lynne D. Findlay, P.C., Q.C., M.P. Minister of National Revenue

The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) plays an essential role in our country's economy, administering taxes, benefits, and related programs on behalf of the federal government as well as provincial and territorial governments. Our ongoing challenge is to effectively and efficiently support government without over-burdening taxpayers. As the Minister of National Revenue, I can assure Canadians that we work diligently every day to meet this challenge.

And we are demonstrating results. Last year, the CRA processed approximately $436 billion in revenues for federal, provincial, and territorial governments and delivered approximately $22 billion in benefit and credit payments. Of equal importance, we advanced several Red Tape Reduction (RTR) initiatives, and amended the Taxpayers' Bill of Rights to reaffirm the CRA's corporate values of professionalism, respect, integrity, and cooperation.

Our commitment to reducing red tape and improving services for taxpayers is an important indicator of the CRA's continuing focus on government priorities, particularly the high importance our government places on supporting small businesses. Small businesses are fundamental to Canada's economy because they create jobs, build community confidence, and support local economic activities. The CRA is reducing the red tape associated with taxes, so that small businesses can focus more of their time and resources on what they do best — growing their businesses and creating jobs. Feedback we have received from small businesses is helping to shape the services the CRA provides as well as the way we do business.

Our efforts are being recognized. This year, once again, Canada has been identified by PricewaterhouseCoopers and the World Bank as one of the top 10 economies around the world when it comes to ease of paying taxes for businesses.

I invite you to read on to find out more about what we are doing to better serve Canadians. As Minister of National Revenue, I am proud to present the Summary of the Corporate Business Plan 2014-2015 to 2016-2017 for the Canada Revenue Agency.
