Readout: Advisory Committee on the Charitable Sector – September 17, 2024

The Advisory Committee on the Charitable Sector (ACCS) met virtually on September 17, 2024.

Robert Delaney, Director from the Charities Directorate of the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA), and Chair of the ACCS Secretariat, opened the meeting by welcoming all the Committee members and thanking them for attending. He took a moment to acknowledge that his location in Ottawa, Ontario, is on the traditional and unceded territory of the Algonquin Anishinaabe People and asked that participants acknowledge the traditional territories from which they joined across Canada.

Robert Delaney then provided updates from the ACCS Secretariat, including a status update on the open call process for new ACCS membership, publication of ACCS Report #4, and administrative housekeeping items related to the upcoming in-person meeting scheduled for October 17 and 18, 2024. He proceeded to introduce key items that would form part of the next meeting agenda, asking members to reflect on the topics and seek feedback within their networks, in preparation for engaging and meaningful discussions in October.

Following this, sector Co-chair Kevin McCort then moderated a brief roundtable discussion about emerging issues in the sector.

After the roundtable, Robert Delaney and the Committee’s Co-chairs thanked the members for their participation and feedback, noting that they look forward to the in-person meeting in October. They then closed the meeting.
