Understanding the T3 Notice of Assessment
This image is of the revised T3 Trust notice of assessment that the Canada Revenue Agency will start sending out in October 2017. It includes four notes explaining how the notice’s contact information, account details, key information, and account summary are simplified and easy to understand. The four notes read:
- “1. Contact info – Appears in the top left corner”
- “2. Notice Details – Organized so you can easily identify the notice details”
- “3. Key info – Provides your most important information and if any actions are required”
- “4. Account summary – Provides you with a status of the trust’s account and useful tips”
We sent the T3 Trust a notice of assessment because the trust filed a tax return or a return was filed for the trust.
This notice shows the result of the assessment of the trust's return. It is sent to the trust after we process the trust's return. Keep this for the trust's records.
The notice shows the date we assessed the trust's return and whether the trust has a refund, an amount owing, or a zero balance.
If, after reviewing the trust’s notice, you realize you have new or additional information you want to send in to change the trust's return, you can send us a T3-ADJ.
