If you want to pay in full

Video series: Debt Collection at the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA)

Paying at once and in full helps you avoid:

  • interest
  • other legal and financial consequences

As an individual or a business, the easiest way to pay your debt is online. With the exception of other government programs debt, go to make a payment to the Canada Revenue Agency for a list of payment options.

The CRA also collects amounts owed for other government programs.  For a list, see debts the CRA collects. To pay other government programs debt, there are three ways you can pay this debt.

Online

The easiest way to pay other government programs debt is through your online banking service. When choosing a payee, select "Employment and Social Development Canada" if available through your financial institution’s Web site.

Also be aware that you cannot use the CRA’s My Payment option to pay other government programs debt.

Note

When you pay online, your payment will go toward your oldest other government programs debt.

At your financial institution

In person at your financial institution, follow these steps to pay other government programs debt:

  • Include your remittance slip with your payment.
  • Do not staple your payment to the remittance slip.
