If you get code COV-040 when you apply
You may get this error if you already applied for your maximum 27 periods (54 weeks) for the CRB. You cannot apply for any more CRB periods.
You only applied for the last 6 periods
You may have been prevented from applying for the last CRB period even though you were eligible. This would only affect you if you first applied for the CRB starting at period 22 (July 18 to 31, 2021) and got code COV-040 when you applied.
This issue was resolved on October 29, 2021. If you are eligible for period 28 (October 10 to 23, 2021), you can apply for it until December 22, 2021.
If you get code COV-026 when you apply
You may have an open EI benefit period with Service Canada. Even if you were denied EI or are no longer receiving EI payments, an open EI benefit period will prevent you from being able to apply for the CRB.

When your EI benefit period has ended, return to the CRB eligibility criteria to make sure you meet all the other criteria.
