New Grocery Rebate

In Budget 2023, the government introduced a one-time Grocery Rebate to provide financial support to eligible individuals and families. The rebate is scheduled to be issued July 5, 2023 alongside the next regular quarterly GST/HST credit payment.

Due to wildfires, some Canadians may experience a delay in the mail delivery of their CRA benefit and credit cheques. If you are affected, visit Canada Post for updates on your mail delivery. Use My Account to register for direct deposit and avoid interruptions to the tax refund or benefit payments.

Debt recovery

The CRA has resumed its work to address taxpayer debt. Tax refunds, benefit and credit payments may be applied to pay outstanding balances. You can check the status of your benefits by logging into your CRA My Account. Contact the CRA if debt repayment causes you financial hardship. The goods and services tax/harmonized sales tax (GST/HST) credit is a tax-free quarterly payment that helps individuals and families with low and modest incomes offset the GST or HST that they pay. It may also include payments from provincial and territorial programs. You are automatically considered for the GST/HST credit when you file your taxes.
