SR&ED service visit
Service summary
The Scientific Research and Experimental Development (SR&ED) service visit gives eligible claimants an opportunity to meet with a CRA representative and discuss any aspect of the SR&ED program. It’s a virtual meeting, initiated by the CRA, that is offered to select claimants after they have submitted a claim.
The service is optional and can help you gain a better understanding of the SR&ED program’s administration and eligibility requirements, and can provide you with advice that is tailored to your needs that can help you with future claims.
What to expect
The service is conducted online and can help claimants:
- distinguish between SR&ED and non-SR&ED work
- identify the scope of work for SR&ED projects
- identify employee activities and qualifying work (including support work)
- allocate, track, and document qualifying expenditures for your SR&ED projects
- navigate tools and resources available to support you
The service can also be customized to your organization’s experience and requirements.
The CRA schedules the visit
After your claim is submitted, a CRA representative may contact you by phone to offer a virtual service visit.
If you accept the service, the representative may ask you some questions to better understand your current SR&ED needs and tailor their information for the visit accordingly.
