Using Auto-fill my return service for 2017 returns
Important note
Before you begin using AFR for a 2017 return, you must first successfully transmit an Authorization request for your client, using the current year UFile CVITP software. For screen-by-screen instructions for filing the Authorization request and for more details on the AFR service, refer to Using Auto-fill my return service for 2018, 2019 and 2020 returns.
If you have already filed your authorization request in the current year, continue with the screen-by-screen instructions below to complete the AFR process for 2017.

Remember:
- The return isn’t populated immediately. You will be prompted to verify that the amounts are accurate and confirm that the income should be reported
- It is the individual’s responsibility to ensure that all income has been reported, regardless of how the information is entered on a return. If you come across a mistake on an information slip, have the individual contact the employer or payer directly
- You must always confirm with the individual that the system is showing all of their information slips

- All slips and other information that were downloaded are listed in the left side menu and the individual’s data is now merged into the return
Note: Ensure that all other information is input and EFILE as you would with any CVITP return.
Remember:
AFR can only download information that the CRA has available at the time of filing. Other income slips that have not yet been received by the CRA, or additional tax information, such as medical expenses and child care, will still need to be entered. Enter this information as you would when filing a return without using AFR.
