Live audition for Canadian Armed Forces musician
This is the second phase of auditioning to be a Canadian Armed Forces CAF musician. It is a live audition with one of 6 Regular Force bands.

What is expected of you in Phase II
Click on your instrument on the list of open Music Branch positions to review the specific requirements for your instrument.
The CAF Music Branch audition is a competition for highly skilled musicians. You should expect the audition to last one full work day.
The live audition is divided into 3 parts.
You will perform one piece from the audition mandatory requirements list for your instrument(s). You will also have the chance to perform one piece of a contrasting style of your choice.
The Music Branch values the ability to also show your skill on a secondary instrument at this time.
You must provide 3 copies of each prepared musical work performed at the audition for use by the selection panel.
You will perform in full band and small ensemble settings. The band POC will provide the musical repertoire for ensemble performances and other musical requirements 4 weeks prior to your audition date.
Music Branch interview
The Music Branch audition panel will interview you.
Your recruiting advisor will provide you with all of the details of your upcoming interview, including:
- performance schedule
- administrative details
A selection panel within the Regular Force band will assess all candidates. The live audition and the panel assessments will be recorded. The final selection will be based on:
- the recordings of the live audition
- the selection panel’s recommendations
