Who is the focus of this consultation
The Pay Equity Act (the Act) and the Regulations establish a proactive pay equity regime. They will require employers with 10 or more federally regulated employees to examine their compensation practices. This is to ensure that women and men receive equal pay for work of equal value. The Act and the Regulations will apply to the federal public and private sectors, and the Prime Minister’s and ministers’ offices. In addition, the regime will apply to parliamentary workplaces through amendments to the Parliamentary Employment and Staff Relations Act in a manner tailored to respect parliamentary privilege. Employers, labour and advocacy stakeholders, as well as pay equity professionals and experts are actively encouraged to participate in the consultation.
