Shared Services Canada's (SSC) mandate is to transform how the Government of Canada manages its information technology (IT) infrastructure. SSC delivers email, data centre, network and workplace technology device services to departments and agencies in a consolidated and standardized manner to support the delivery of Government of Canada programs and services. With a whole‑of‑government approach to IT infrastructure services, SSC is delivering more efficient, reliable and secure IT infrastructure services.

Availability

SSC aims to update and monitor the LinkedIn company page during regular office hours (9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time, Monday to Friday), with limited monitoring on weekends. Any activity during holidays, after core hours and on weekends would likely be along the lines of emergency or urgent communications of significant value to followers. Otherwise, the company page will be relatively inactive during these times.

Third-party LinkedIn services may be unavailable occasionally and SSC apologizes in advance for any inconvenience.

Followers

At this time, SSC will take steps to block followers only if they do not abide by these Terms of Use. Users may also be reported to LinkedIn if they do not comply with the service provider's terms of use.

The appearance of a LinkedIn user as a follower of SSC’s company page does not imply endorsement.

A LinkedIn company page cannot follow individuals or other company pages.

Comments

Feedback and interaction is highly encouraged. All comments made on the LinkedIn company page will be read and any emerging themes or helpful suggestions will be sent to the relevant people in the Department. Although SSC is not able to reply individually to all comments, they will be handled on a case-by-case basis and responded to when deemed appropriate.

If SSC feels a comment or a question is of significant business value and/or requires a greater level of detail, a formal response may be developed and the information distributed through other channels, such as the website or other social media channels. SSC will pay attention to emerging themes and helpful suggestions and will look forward to this potential interaction.

Official languages

SSC respects the Official Languages Act and is committed to ensuring that information products are available in both English and French, and are of equal quality. SSC's bilingual company page and regular updates are available in both official languages.

Through the very nature of the social media forum, content may vary between the English and French updates, particularly where comments are concerned. Any responses that originate from SSC will be made available in both official languages when they concern both English and French communities. Responses to comments will be made in the official language of origin.

Information shared with SSC on LinkedIn is subject to the provisions of the Access to Information Act and the Privacy Act, which means that the information you share with the SSC LinkedIn company page may be captured, stored, accessed and disclosed in response to a request under either of these acts.

The personal information that you provide to SSC's social media accounts is collected under the authority of the Financial Administration Act, in accordance with the Communications Policy of the Government of Canada. This information is being collected to capture conversations between you and SSC via the Department's social media accounts. “Conversations” include questions and answers, comments, likes, shares and other interactions where you provide feedback on content that the Department has posted, or when the Department provides you with information based on content that you post. The personal information collected is described in the Personal Information Bank entitled Public Communications. Under the provisions of the Privacy Act, individuals have the right of access to, correction of and protection of their personal information.
