Message from the Taxpayers' Ombudsman

It is with enthusiasm that I take office as the Taxpayers’ Ombudsman. I welcome the opportunity to serve Canadian taxpayers by ensuring they receive the professional service and fair treatment they have the right to expect from the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA). As the Taxpayers’ Ombudsman, my role is to review individual and systemic service-related taxpayer complaints as an independent and impartial third party. I also provide advice and assistance to the Minister of National Revenue on matters related to the service provided to Canadian taxpayers in their interactions with the CRA.

Where necessary, my office will facilitate access for taxpayers to the various areas of the CRA and open lines of communication in an effort to achieve a satisfactory resolution to a taxpayer’s service-related complaint.
