Due to building closures in response to COVID-19, we are unable to access mailed or faxed complaints. If your situation is urgent, please call us at 1-866-586-3839 or submit an online complaint. Personal information such as your social insurance number or personal tax details should never be sent to the Office of the Taxpayers' Ombudsman.

What is a service complaint?

Do you feel your service rights have not been respected or you have not received fair treatment by the CRA? The Office of the Taxpayers’ Ombudsman (OTO) can help. We provide an objective, independent, and fair review of issues and uphold your service rights set out in the Taxpayer Bill of Rights. Service-related issues include:

  • receiving incomplete and/or inaccurate information
  • undue delays in processing
  • inability to access the CRA by telephone
  • poor employee behaviour
  • all relevant documents not taken into account
  • not receiving reasons for a decision
  • particular circumstances not considered by the CRA
