October 2017 - Annual Review of the Canada Revenue Agency's Training Videos

October 18, 2017

The Office of the Taxpayers’ Ombudsman has conducted its annual review of the Canada Revenue Agency’s (CRA) inventory of training videos relating to interacting with the public to determine whether they respect the Taxpayer Bill of Rights.

Background

In May 2012, the Honourable Gail Shea, then Minister of National Revenue, requested that my office review all training videos relating to interacting with the public that the CRA had in use to verify whether they respected the Taxpayer Bill of Rights. She also requested that the Ombudsman review all future training videos to provide assurance that they respect the Taxpayer Bill of Rights.

Findings

My Office requested that the CRA provide us with all training videos relating to interacting with the public that it had produced or purchased since we completed our last review in September 2016. The CRA informed my Office that there has been no new video content produced or purchased related to interacting with the public. As a result, I do not have any findings to report for this period.

Next steps

My office will continue to review the CRA’s inventory of training videos annually. The next report will be sent to you in September 2018.

Should you require additional information, please do not hesitate to contact me.
