When submitting a complaint to the Taxpayers' Ombudsperson...
Tip #1 – Be informed.
Before you submit a complaint to the Office of the Taxpayers’ Ombudsperson (OTO), please read our Submit a complaint – information Web page.
Tip #2 – Submit complete information on the complaint form
Complete all applicable areas of the complaint form before submitting it, most importantly:
- Sign and date Section 5 of the form, "Permission to disclose information" to authorize the exchange of information between the OTO and the CRA for the purpose of reviewing your complaint.
- If you are designating a representative to act on your behalf, provide the identifying information for your representative. Both you and your representative must sign and date Section 4 of the form, "Third party authorization."
Tip #3 – Know what to leave out
Make sure the details of your service complaint DO NOT contain personal information such as your social insurance number or personal tax details.
