National Public Service Week - Transcript
At the end of this month Canadians from coast to coast to coast will mark 150 years of Confederation. And so it is very fitting that June also marks a Government of Canada milestone – the 25th annual National Public Service Week.
“Public service,” unlike so many words and phrases we use in government, says exactly what it means: Service, to the public.
Your perseverance, dedication and professionalism are what makes this country work, and has made it such a global success, for such a long time. On the opening day of this week to celebrate this year’s theme -- “Proudly Serving Canadians for 150 Years” -- I could not be prouder or more respectful of your achievements.
Among you are man of the brightest and most creative minds in the country, and my mandate is to give you the resources, incentives and confidence and the tools to make the leap to providing exceptional 21st century services for Canadians.
Have fun participating in the week’s events and celebrate together, for this country’s success is your success.
