Open Government Week 2019: Message from Alex Benay - Transcript

Good afternoon everybody. My name is Alex Benay, I’m the CIO of Canada and I want to wish you a happy Open Government Week! This year’s theme is actually inclusion. It’s one of our priorities as co-chair of the Open Government Partnership globally.

A lot of events are happening across the country, I’ll list some of them. On March 14th in Toronto, there’s Open Government celebration, there’s a HackQC happening March 8-10th in Québec city and we have a live webinar on feminism and open government on March 13th. The Government of Canada also introduced open government principles in all our digital processes or most or more of our digital processes.

Open Government is good for digital change, we get better outcomes when we talk about the work that we are doing in the open and we are making the government more open and accountable to Canadians to help citizens everywhere join our decision making process.

Lots of great stuff going on this week for Open Government Week and we will see you there!
