Description of the objective
Issue
Recent amendments to the Canada Labour Code and Employment Insurance legislation extend the circumstances where it is mandatory to provide employees with leave of absence without pay.
The current provisions of the PSSRs dealing with contributions owing by a pension plan contributor for periods of leave without pay are not completely aligned with these changes.
Description of the amendments to the Regulations
Adding to existing provisions to ensure the recognition of the new periods of mandatory leave.
