ATIP Online Request Service: Latest news
The new ATIP Online Request Service!
There is now one place for all your ATIP requests to begin! The ATIP Online Request Service (AORS) will tell you who to ask and where to go to get access to government information or access to personal information.
As Phase 1 of revamping the ATIP service for Canadians, the ATIP Online Request Service will:
- Help you find summaries of previous requests, so you might not even have to make your own
- Tell you which institution may hold the information you are looking for – no more guessing where to put your request!
What about the old online system?
The ATIP Online Pilot, in existence since 2014, will continue for now to serve the 33 institutions that are part of it. If that’s where you need to go, the new AORS will send you there.
Between now and 2021, all 33 institutions currently on the Pilot will move to the ATIP Online Request Service.
There will be 80 institutions using the AORS to process requests by spring 2019. A request to one of those institutions can be made from here!
For institutions not on either site, we will send you to their website so you can make your request with them directly. Don’t worry, we’re bringing all the institutions under the Access to Information Act and the Privacy Act to the AORS between now and 2021!
The future and beyond!
This is just Phase 1 of the ATIP Online renewal. Between now and 2021 we will move all institutions subject to the Access to Information Act and the Privacy Act into the AORS – no more travelling to multiple websites for your request.
In the future, we also want to be able to:
- give you status updates for your request online, and
- deliver your documents electronically.
