Refocusing Government Spending: Results for 2024–25, 2025–26, and 2026–27 

To ensure prudent spending that is best aligned with current priorities, in Budget 2023, the government announced the refocusing of $14.1 billion over five years (starting in 2023–24) for departments, agencies and appropriated crown corporations, and $4.1 billion annually thereafter. In 2023–24, $500.0 million was refocused to current government priorities as reported in Supplementary Estimates (B), 2023–24.

In the 2023 Fall Economic Statement, the government announced that it will extend and expand its Budget 2023 efforts to refocus government spending by reallocating an additional $345.6 million in 2025–26, and $691.0 million ongoing. Combined with the Budget 2023 announcement, the government will be refocusing $4.8 billion per year in 2026–27 and ongoing from organizations included in the Main Estimates.
