Are you looking for a new career? A career that will make you feel like you’re making a difference? Sounds interesting? Look no further.
Step 1: Go to canada.ca/gcjobs to create your account profile.
Step 2: Search for jobs, select a job and click Apply online.
Be very clear and specific when answering the questions! Each question is considered, so it is important to provide strong answers for each of the criteria that you meet. Read the questions attentively: you want to make sure you understand each question and provide complete answers.
Give complete answers and use concrete examples (focus on the where, when, and how). It’s okay to use the same example more than once as long as you’re answering the question.
Don’t just list your courses when asked about your experience: talk about the projects you worked on and the context, your role, who you worked with and the challenges you faced.
Avoid referring to your resume in your answers: this questionnaire is intended to ensure your experience is properly captured.
Avoid using highly technical language and acronyms in your answers. Your answers should be easy for anyone to understand. Ensure your spelling and grammar are sound before submitting too!
Make sure to click on the “Save” button regularly as you can lose all of your responses after an hour of being on the same page, even if you are actively answering questions.
Step 3: Submit your application! You can track the status of your application through the portal. It may take some time for a manager to review your application so be patient.
Eager to challenge the status quo? Ready to make a difference in the lives of Canadians by doing valuable work? Take charge of your career and apply today to become part of a collaborative and progressive team of professionals within the Government of Canada.
