Government of Canada to host commemorative event at Beechwood Cemetery in lead-up to the 80th anniversary of D-Day and the Battle of Normandy

Ottawa, ON – Marie-France Lalonde, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of National Defence, on behalf of the Honourable Ginette Petitpas Taylor, Minister of Veterans Affairs and Associate Minister of National Defence, will attend a commemorative event jointly hosted by Veterans Affairs Canada and Beechwood National Cemetery, with Veterans of the Second World War in attendance.

The event will honour and recognize Veterans of D-Day and the Battle of Normandy by sharing some of their stories, followed by a candlelight procession to the National Military cemetery and a visit to the gravesites of Canadians who served during D-Day and the Second World War.

PS Lalonde and other participants will be available to the media at the event.
